GREETINGS FROM THE CHAIR

Hello, everyone! I am Becky Citrak, chair of Norwescon 32. Fall has arrived and it with it comes a very exciting time - the start of our Con-Com meetings! Now is when we really start to ramp up our planning for the convention. One very important goal that we have this year is to increase our interaction with members and friends of Norwescon, so we have decided to distribute a monthly email Newsletter! The PR Alpha and Beta (which are mailed to members via USPS) will be trimmed down and the eNewsletter will provide you with the information that is usually featured in those updates.

During the months leading up to Norwescon 32 the eNewsletter will include:

  • Announcements of upcoming meetings, events and news.
  • Volunteer opportunities (it's never to early to join in the fun!)
  • Updates on programming participants, panels, the art show, the masquerade, dances, parties, contests, workshops, special events and other exciting plans for the convention that are in the works!
  • Interviews with interesting folks from throughout the spectrum of the science fiction and fantasy world including writers, artists, publishers, affiliate organizations, fans, volunteers and more.
  • Convenient access to the Executive Team and Con-Com members. We want to hear from you!
  • Giveaways! There will be drawings each month for books, art, or other goodies.

The theme of Norwescon 32 is "Things That Time Forgot" and I am very pleased to introduce this year's distinguished guests to you!

Writer Guest of Honor: R. A. Salvatore
As one of the fantasy genre's most successful authors, R.A. Salvatore enjoys an ever-expanding and tremendously loyal following. His books regularly appear on The New York Times best-seller lists and have sold more than 10,000,000 copies. His first novel, The Crystal Shard, was published 1988, and became the first volume of the acclaimed Icewind Dale Trilogy. Since that time, Salvatore has published numerous novels for each of his signature multi-volume series including The Dark Elf Trilogy, Paths of Darkness, The Hunter's Blades Trilogy, and The Cleric Quintet.

Artist Guest of Honor: Todd Lockwood
Todd Lockwood's work has been featured in paintings for Wizards of the Coast (TSR) and covers for Asimov's and Analog. He has built an impressive body of fantasy images, and helped to redefine the look of the popular Dungeons and Dragons game for the Third Edition release. His work has been honored with multiple appearances in Spectrum and the Communication Arts Illustration Annual, twelve Chesleys, two prestigious World Fantasy Art Show awards, and numerous industry awards.

Special Guest: Geno Salvatore
Geno Salvatore has collaborated on several R.A. Salvatore projects including Fast Forward Games, R.A. Salvatore's The DemonWars Campaign Setting and R.A. Salvatore's The DemonWars Player's Guide. He co-authored R.A. Salvatore's DemonWars Prologue, a DemonWars short story that appeared in the comic book published by Devil's Due Publishing.

Spotlight Publisher: Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
Premier publisher of fantasy fiction, including such lines as Forgotten Realms®, Dragonlance® and The New York Times best selling authors R.A. Salvatore, Margaret Weis, and Tracy Hickman.

There is so much to be excited about!

I hope that you find this eNewsletter informative and interesting. More than that, I hope it will generate a feeling of connection and community. That is what brought me into fandom, and I think it continues to be one of the most attractive things about it!

Chair, Norwescon 32
