The cupcakes are also a lie.
FRIDAY CONCERTS: MONSTERS OF GANYMEDE
Join nwcMUSIC for filk and folk. See two new bands: one straight up, the other with a rock finisher. Tonight's concerts are in Evergreen 1/2:
7 pm: Annie Henry - Irish trad with a twist
8 pm: Leannan Sidhe - Bittersweet faerie folksongs for ensnaring human hearts
9 pm: Aislinn the Bard - Pegasus nominee Anne Prather has a new CD!
10 pm: Starlight - Stephanie Wieppert and Rich Glover's new band, a heady mix of country, folk, filk, and rock with a skyward reach.
WARNING: DISTURBING POPSICLE PERFORMANCE ART!
Music programming at NWC is vaguely nervous about Cascadia's Got Talent! This is a one-shot experimental talent show, at Norwescon 34. Bring your talents to our daytime audience and panel of celebrity drunks guests. Win possibly fabulous prizes! Or at least prizes, comma, alleged. So fabulous, in a Gong Show kind of way.
Sign up at Info until 2 pm today; after that, come upstairs and bribe the MC. Showtime is 3 pm today, in the Salon.
CONVENTIONIST APP NOW AVAILABLE FOR NORWESCON 34
Check the program book for instructions on how to get the pocket program onto your Android or iPhone. This program updates frequently as our schedule changes. Make sure you have the latest version.
LET'S MAKE A MOVIE!
If you've ever thought it might be fun to make a movie, but never knew where to begin, TODAY is the day you'll learn! The "Let's Make a Movie!" workshop is the place. Come on down and be a part of the madness and fun!
KINUKO Y. CRAFT OFFERS EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY
The Art Show staff has been working closely with Kinuko and her husband Mahlon on prints the Crafts have specially prepared for Norwescon. A very limited number of these signed archival prints will be available for purchase. They include art that has appeared on the covers of many of Patricia A. Mckillip's books and some of Kinuko's personal favorites. This will be an amazing opportunity to collect Kinuko Y. Craft's work. Your Art Show team is excited to be able to present this stunning work for you.
WHERE ART IS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
Artists' Alley is going into high gear today from 9 am to 6 pm in Concourse 2. We have a large variety of artists to see and learn from. Learn from digital painters, fabric artists, sculptors, illustrators, comic artists, and much, much more. This is the place to see it being made! See you there.
SMACDOWN ARCADE
Join Seattle Area Metro Collectors and Northwest Pinball and Gameroom in room 7110 for an old fashioned arcade. Enjoy classic favorites and some great newer games, all set to free play. No quarters required!
ROGUE NOVELISTS SIGHTED
The Philip K. Dick Awards will be presented today at 7 pm in Grand 2. Join us for the unveiling of this award for the best original US published paperback science fiction book for 2010. There will be desserts, tea, coffee, and no-host bar.
OVERHEARD!
"You can't fire me! Slaves have to be sold!"
"Get it on its back until its tail starts wagging."
"Oh yeah, I was going to find somewhere to shove that."
"You pull it slowly so it doesn't twist or kink."
"First she went up, then she went down."
