The official daily news sheet for Norwescon 47 — Wednesday, 16 April 2025
We are glad you’re here
We wish a warm welcome to staff, volunteers, members and our Guests of Honor. If you are not from this area, welcome to The beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Look with us through the cosmic telescope. Take in the wonders of miasmic blue-light clouds where stars are born, gaze into the mysterious expanse where dark matter veils the edges of the universe, and peek at strange and fabulous denizens of the cosmos. Your adventures are limited only by your imagination.
Share your Close Encounters
“Close Encounters” are micro stories (just one short paragraph) of interesting interactions you have at Norwescon 47.
Have a memorable or funny meeting with one of our honorable guests or another con attendee? Send your snippets of interaction to zine@norwescon.org.
Get linked up & plugged in
Change is real and inevitable. It can happen even at the most meticulously planned event. But don’t worry about missing out when there’s a schedule update – we have Guidebook and our website to keep you in-the-know.
Guidebook is Norwescon’s online schedule app. It’s kept up-to-date, so you have the latest info at all times. The app lets you tag all the panels and events you want to go to, gives you a tailored view of your schedule, and even lets you set reminders for yourself. If you haven’t yet, download the app at https://guidebook.com/g/#/guides/norwescon47/details.
Also, the Norwescon 47 website will keep you informed: https://www.norwescon.org/
You can locate updated daily schedules, event grids and a handy map at: https://www.norwescon.org/con/schedule-of-events/
Overheard…
Please submit those “makes sense at a con, but not so much elsewhere” or “only at a sci fi/fantasy convention” things you overhear in our halls, panels, events and parties.
To prime the pump, here are a few examples from past events:
“Who’d win in a bare-knuckle fight, Trinity or Caprica Six?”
“Sometimes I just break the ice by asking folks what non-human they would be, in any franchise.”
“Not that I mind, but when did all the stuff I like get labeled geeky and nerdy?”
Send your own Overheard items to zine@norwescon.org.

Interested in volunteering?
Go to the volunteer table, located in the convention lobby. Even if it’s for a few hours a day, your time helping out at your convention, is appreciated.
Here early?
We are always looking for volunteers to help with setup. There will be a dinner break and social for staff and volunteers on Wednesday evening.
Staff - check in with your department head.
Volunteers - your ticket for entry is helping out!
