Over the Hills and Far Away
Welcome to Norwescon 40 Planning!
Welcome to another year of planning for Norwescon. This year is, of course, a special year as we celebrate turning 40! We're not over the hill yet!
I'd like to encourage all of you to come and participate in our community this year, especially if it's been a while since you've made it to Norwescon. We have a great line-up of programming, some fantastic special events, and as always, we have our wonderful members.
I firmly believe that we are a community of learners and creators, and I really hope that you'll come join us Easter weekend to show off what you've created and learn new things with us.
Writer's Workshop
The Fairwood Writers are pleased to sponsor the writing workshop for Norwescon 40 during April 13-16, 2017. They accept electronic submissions of short stories or novel excerpts in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, to be critiqued by professional writers during Norwescon 40. The guidelines are available now on the website at http://www.norwescon.org/con/program/writers-workshop/
Short Story Book Club
Do you like to read? Do you like to talk about the things you read? Then the Norwescon Short Story Book Club might be the right fit for you! It's only one short story a month--you can do it!
The Club meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 6-8pm at Wayward Coffeehouse. More details about which stories to read each month can be found on our Facebook page or our website calendar.
Decorate Your Staff Shirt!
Have you ever wanted to make your staff shirt more you? Add some glitter? Some pizzazz? We'll provide materials for you to decorate your shirt; you provide your past staff shirt.
Join us at 10am before the October ConCom Meeting in Maxi's Ballroom to enjoy some social time and shirt decorating before Halloween. If you've been a staff member in the past and are thinking of coming back, this event is perfect for you!
And if you are thinking about joining us as a new or returning staff member, check out our Open Volunteer Positions page on the website!
