CURRENT HAPPENINGS

Content, we have content, really.

We're about two months out from this year's convention and things are really starting to bubble and churn. You should start to see more and more things going up on the website. Currently we have a list of showing artists, attending pros, a good bit about planned special events and information about finding a place to stay. Soon you will see a printable Progress Report and initial schedules will start to appear.

In this workshop, participants subm the first 250 words of their book with no personal identificatio The leaders will read each piece aloud in turn and discuss wh does and doesn't work as well as what expectations it sets u for the overall book. Authors remain anonymous, although the are welcome to ask questions afterwards. Limited to 1 participants. To participate, please send your 250 words t programming@norwescon.org, with the subject line "Fir Pages". The panel will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2011, 11 a.m.

ARTIST'S ALLEY

Artist's Alley is in full swing and is shaping up to be even more of the place you need to visit during the con. From maille artisans and sculptures to illustrators and comic book artists, we will have it all. Quite a few of our artists are participating in the Art Show as well, so if you have any questions about how they do what they do just stop by and ask! This is the place you can learn a little about the art of making art and see everything up close and personal. How do you make chain maille? How do you start a digital painting? How do you layout a comic book page? How do you design metal sculpture? All your questions can be answered here.

You can help make Norwescon happen, especially when you volunteer time to assist with making sure everything runs smoothly and tasks are completed. This doesn't just happen while the convention is taking place. It starts the day before the convention and continues until the Monday following the convention.

By volunteering you can earn cool prizes, share in some of the behind the scenes fun, and compete for great rewards! And don't forget that by volunteering your time, you also get some great food and privileges at the convention, and during the summer at the Volunteer Picnic too! Take on a task or two to help make Norwescon 34 that much better than it already is. Contact us today!

Please visit the publications page for a link to the latest Progress Report. In addition, if you were considering submitting an ad for the program book, the deadline is March 1, 2011.
