<h2>Some Sad News</h2>
<p>Our planned Writer Guest of Honor, Charles de Lint, regretfully informed us that he will be unable to attend Norwescon 40. He hopes that he will be able to join us in the future and wishes everyone a great time at the convention.</p>
<p>The new Writer Guest of Honor will be announced as soon as possible, so stay tuned!</p>
<h2>Even More Sad News</h2>
<p>Longtime Norwescon volunteer, Patrick Nash, passed away earlier this month. The memorial service was held on November 18th at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. More details can be found at his obituary link here. Patrick will be missed and we would like to extend our condolences to his family and friends.</p>

<h2>Some Good News</h2>
<p>The writers' workshop at Norwescon offers feedback from writing professionals that will help you improve your science fiction, fantasy and horror short fiction and novels. You'll find our guidelines here -- but don't delay! Submit your manuscripts by 11:59 p.m. PST on Dec. 4, 2016 for a place in the 2017 workshop.</p>

<p>Norwescon's Art Show is now accepting submissions for the second annual Emerging Artist Competition for young adults aged 14- 18.
