Artist Guest of Honor News

Welcome Julie Dillon!

Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell regret to inform us that, due to other commitments, they will no longer be able to attend Norwescon 38. While we are sad they will no longer be joining us, we are pleased to welcome Hugo Award-winning illustrator Julie Dillon as our Artist Guest of Honor.

See the Guest of Honor page for more information.

GoH Dinner Banquet Tickets Available

The Thursday night Guest of Honor banquet is returning this year! Come join our Guests of Honor for a light dinner and interesting conversation.

See the Guest of Honor Banquet page for more information.

Hotel Room Availability

There are still about 75 rooms available for Friday and Saturday night at our original contracted rate of $126. This year, we are seeing a record number of people staying at the hotel on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and we are sold out of rooms on those nights.

We have been working with the hotel to find additional rooms to add to our block, and they have been able to offer a limited number of rooms for Wednesday and Thursday at a higher rate. See the Hotel page for more information.

If you plan to stay at the hotel, you should get your reservation soon.

Art Show Open for Business

Norwescon 38 art show is now accepting applications from artists, and we would love to hear from you. This year's art show promises to be as exciting and diverse as any in the last several years, and we would like you to be part of that experience.

Headlined by our artist guest of honor, Julie Dillon, and featuring many of the Northwest's most accomplished and recognized artists, the Norwescon art show is one of the most successful and recognized in the West Coast. The Norwescon art show's goal is not just to feature the most well-known and successful artists, but also to supply a venue that provides exposure for up-and-coming artists, helping them to hone their craft and build a successful career.

We would like you to be part of our community. Please visit the Norwescon Art Show page for more information on how you can sign up with the Norwescon 38 art Show.

DJs Needed

"Lutes and Mandolins are well and good, but we need to DANCE." Calling all DJs!

Do you have the skills to fill the floor with a crush of bodies? Can you weave music to soothe the savage beast, raise the dead, and mesmerize the masses?

Norwescon 38 is sending out a call for DJs. Mix it up and show us what you've got. All styles welcome, as long as it keeps the floor full!

If interested, please send the following information to dances@norwescon.org:

  • Name and DJ name
  • Standard genre
  • Con experience: Where you have performed before
  • Sample playlist or link to a previous performance

Gaming Staff Positions Available

Greetings from your friendly neighborhood gamer geek squad! Norwescon is gearing up to be extra exciting this year, and gaming is no exception! We have been given the Maxi's space again and planning is in full swing to make this the best year for gaming yet!

We are currently recruiting game masters and staff. Open staff positions include track leads for several gaming tracks and room staff. Our tracks are family gaming, board games, card games and tournaments, role playing games, computer games, LARPs, and dealers/kickstarters. Track lead positions focus on recruiting game masters within a given game genre and work with the department lead and scheduler to get game masters set up to run games during the convention.

Room staff work the room during the convention doing head counts, passing out raffle tickets, directing people to their tables, and assisting people in finding games.

Contact gaming@norwescon.org to volunteer as gaming staff.

Staff Positions Available

Norwescon is always looking for new volunteers to help fill staff positions. Current open positions include Youth Liaison, Graphics Artist Lead, Lead Photographer, Webmaster Second, Newsletter Editor, and Daily 'Zine Editor.

Visit the Open Volunteer Positions page to find out what positions we are currently recruiting for.
